The above painting is the next step from the blue tree. While my blue tree was done deep in the night, this painting is done just before sunrise. well thats what I want to capture. The twilight capturing the diminishing blue night light along with the subtle pure emerging golden morning light. The conflict in turn, creates shadows. I purposefully added shadows only for the thin twigs as the shadow for the big tree would only emerge with more light.
I am really enjoying doing these nature paintings and working on single colored "themes".

I really like these two recent works. There is a very nice gestural quality about them.
They have substance, yet you can see the abandonment with which you've painted them. Something that I strive for in my paintings...I find it hard to give to the painting completely without having form.
Very emotional pieces.
What do you mean single colour theme though? just blue? Or just green?
Is this a piece that you worked directly from nature? I got the idea that the previous one was imagined.
you know what though, on further study, your previous painting had a pureness and simplicity in form, and colour that I respond to. So, I do have one suggestion, and that is to not overwork a piece. Too much overworking, and the colours start to look dirty. Also, there is an ambiguousness on the left side of the painting, that I am unsure about.
But, having said that, I still like the piece, and deem it a success. So, well done.

these works are imaginary... but as if I am copying from nature.
Single colour theme is like when we see a leaf. we say it is green, or a apple is red. But in actuality there are so many colors.
the main color on the form defines it.
so though I use many colors, I am sticking to to the theme and retaining a main color.
For me the previous painting seemed a little incomplete and thus had to work on it. but yes, sometimes a over work a bit.
I thought that they were both done from the same perspective, with the same subject. I agree with pooj - the first one was more simplified and pure. the second one seemed to be very gestural - and i liked it for that. it contains some excitement. like you were in a frenzy while painting it. in that i think it was a success.
