'If the Butterfly is God'

This painting is a part of a series of works I am doing... I am intrigued by passing thoughts and metaphors. I strive to connect universal ideas to my individual taste as themes in my work. Subjects like the sun and moon to simple beings like butterflies and flowers excite me. I am amazed by their multiple hues and their freedom of existence. I also realise these instances can be achieved only when there are no complexities.
I have constructed an optimistic view of life which has enabled me to gather upon the various simple pleasures around me. Through various phases in my life, I have realised that if we search within ourselves, we discover we are essentially ‘child-like’. For me, the translation of ideas stemming from ones imagination to an external world through painting is itself very fascinating. So this painting is my imagination and play. The media is emulsion and acrylic on canvas.

this medium is really interesting. i like the texture and 'silkyness' it produces...hmmm...i am really tempted to experiment with that sometime.
your little note about exploring the 'child-like' nature of life and looking at an optimistic and almost utopian world seems accurate (you do sound like an art-critic when you write sometimes heeheehee...) to what your work says to me. stick with it girl! i think you're on an interesting road.
