Hey Girlies,
I am posting the images of the box I painted for the anniversary show at The Strand Art Room, Mumbai.
The idea was to depict value... of what we value in our lives. As the box signifies containing something valuable.
Very literally, I painted the games which I used to regularly play in my childhood and adoloscence. Either played with other people or by myself.
Carom, soduku, Brainvita and Ludo
Anyway, now all set to work for our show in Jan!

love it nirali. the concept of the box - did they tell you to take a box and depict value? or did you just choose the box idea also.
i think its quite profound. everything that has value to us - material or memories we want to open a box and store everything in there. close it for safekeeping and preservation. i like the idea of a series done with boxes. who knows what you will find in the boxes?
cant wait to see what you girls are going to come up with for the show!
In my mind - Nirali's take on memories of play, childhood and joy though these treasure boxes- a game box - is really super solid and deep, while still maintaining the notion of play in a fundamental form-centric manner. If I were you Nirodh - I would totally follow through this line of thought...take it deeper and see where it brings you.
Also, given the space that Jaaga is - perhaps work like this is far more relevant and likely to hold its weight, than basic 2D paintings...
hey thanks for your comments. The topic was just value and we could come up with anything. In that context, I thought of memories which usually linked to play for me.
there are going to be some 50 boxes in the show. If there is some link later about it. I shall post it
Arcna, for the jaaga show, i have already started working as there is such little time... but lets see how I can work this out!
