Okay This is the completed circle no. 4. Now I guess my working speed is increasing as I want to complete these paintings as soon as I can, as I want to do a preview of these works in Baroda before I get them to Bangalore and thus I am working continously.
These circles are in passing and the paintings are made from just a 'glimpse' of the circle I see, as I pass. Thus I have purposefully not got into other dimensions like the surrounding space around the sculptural form. What catches my eyes as I travel around the city is painted along with the various elements and colors which my artistic impulse and the extravagance of art allows!

There is something Klimty in all of this...perhaps the 'ornamentation' of it all. The way you take a base form, derived from circles in Baroda streets and then burst them into these landscapes of detailed and distressed embellishments...seems to me that there is some 'nirali signature' that has fast developed.
One word of caution to both you and pooj (I have the same problem) is that while nascent and along this path discovering a grammar and then playing with this language is great - but getting stuck to it over the next 20 years is not. So girls, part of our careers as artists, we should always strive to experience new things - food, ppl, cities, emotions and what have you - so that it feeds into our work and keeps us forever reacting and introspecting such that the formal aspects of our work reflect the skins we grow and shed.
hey Arcna I liked your comment about taking a base form from an already created art form.
And about a signature style... I think it will take a long time to develop. And I think the demand and mindset these days would never allow a 20 year old signature style to exist!
Yeah, I think too our art and art making has to constantly evole and be a part of us at every moment and at every stage...
It is just falling in love with what we are doing :-)
yes! totally klimt. i think somthing to do with the colours too. good work nirali. this particular piece i feel i need to see in person to get a better sense of what its all about. right now the flatness appeals to me more as a surface design - which is not to say that it is a bad thing
