Anyway, now that this is out of the way I can focus more on the tapestry paintings. Although, I do have one more commission to get done.
This one of the kids is oil on panel. I kind of tried to give it my little touch with the colours and and line. I didn't want it to be a super realistic work with perfect hands, clothes etc because that is not my style, and I feel that even if something is a commission, it has to have your own personal touch. This I am learning as I go along. I realise that it makes the commission more fun for me and less of a job.
My only 'realistic copying' was in the face. Besides aiming for the work to look like the kids I tried to give myself free reign with everything else. Like the sharp line on the sleeve. I like that. Something about the painting reminds me of Frida Kahlo - the mexican painter. whom I love...
Overall I'm quite happy with the way this turned out - but I know I have such a ways to go and so much to learn about portraiture!

I think the work is orignal inspite of being a copy. Even the facial expressions which might be copied from the photograph, have a unique touch gets the character Which I feel is more important than the likenessto the picture.
About comparing your work with Frida Kahlo, I think ure creative portraits can experiment between Frida Kahlo & Francis Bacon... :-)
I am really looking fwd to see your paintings in real. The almost life-size nudes with the Pooja signature style!
