Hey girls! glad to be back in communications on the blog! Well, what have I been upto?? I went to Philly to see the Frida Kahlo show. It was really inspirational. Her work was really cool to see in person- a lot more detail then you would think.
I am also working on a drawing/painting for a mural that I'm going to do at a thai restaurant. I'm super stoked, but also a bit nervous. The total dimensions are about 48' by 12' high.
After going and looking at the space, and talking to the owner I decided to work on an underwater theme. So, I headed to the library to do some research on fish and coral, and now I'm working on a mini version of the mural so I can see what it will look like, and correct any issues it might have on a small scale.
So, thats where I am at right now. As soon as I have the painting done, I will post it and you girls - my critics can tell me what you think.
Its taking up pretty much most of my time. I'm thinking and sleeping and eating fish and coral! I just want it to go well because I know it will open up so many more opportunities!
ok girls, happy creating in your lives. Will be checking the blog once a day so I think as long as we post something once a week, that will be good.

Hey pooja, I think Frida Kahlo is the best. U lucky bum! Is the show online?
During my visit, I went viewed a show in Delhi of three artists from Baroda - Chinnan, Alok & Chirag at www.art-konsult.com.
U can check out the works.
Looking forward to see the mural.
I am working on a new painting now, which is bigger than my usual size and am quite excited. shll post soon on or about it
i really like FK too. Its a show i would love to someday see.
pooj this proj sounds really great!!! the size of the work is something else too! wow! 48 feet of paint covered surface is a biggie.might i suggest that you think about one base colour or even divide the canvas into parts and colour each base with a flat colour and then build on that? hey also you should chat with george mathen - follow the link to his website and see his mural work. hes a good friend of mine so intro yourself through me and chat away. i think he'll have some good tips for you.
best of luck babe! o and if you dont mind sharing this - how much are you charging for this job and what is your time estimate for getting it done.
hey girls, i wish that you could have seen fk with me. in fact i think it would be awesome to just see some art together. hey arch, thanks for the link to your friend george- will definitely check him out. is he cool?
yeah, this mural is blowing my mind.
i am going to do a base colour and then work on that. definitely. its a pretty straightforward mural - i'm hoping!
charge and time estimate? I'm thinking 20 work days? About $8000.
what do you think?? ok ladies, thats it for now. glad we're on this again!
shite! all the stuff i wrote out to you just got lost gah!!
ok a quick recap:
thanks for sharing the costing info - this will be really helpful for me to figure out that space in the future.
my concern is that you might be under-quoting on the time. From my experience painting a wall thats 48x12 feet is a hard physically laborious process apart from being a creatively challenging one. so unless you have assistants, Im not sure 20 days is likely to be enough. if nothing else i would add at least a 5 day spill-over.
best of luck babe! im super excited about this for you.
btw - yeah george is cool - he's in my band and one talented cat he is (much like the rest of us here hahaha)
hey arch!yeah, i probably did go low on the time. i'm still working it out. i might just say two mths!! imagine if we could work on a wall together, with all our ideas!! how cool! by the way, you ignored my request for you to stop over in dc when you go to italy! not possible??
yeah man - 2 months sounds about right to me :)
about boston - my flt is routed through france. sorry da - just too broke to make the de-tour.
but am really looking forward to the NY and catching you up then - perhaps we can all meet up in kerela. met sandhya and she was supa excited about that plan.
cool cool!!
