Brotkunst & Putiklub Present Snakes & Lotuses. Berlin

This was a fantastic show! The people were really into the scene and understood my work. The gallery itself was really perfect both for its location and its ambiance. Its in East Berlin where all the art is at. People who came were artists from all disciplines - painters, performers, poets et al. The gallery is literally underground and thus has very controlled lighting - which for me was perfect. It was also rather avant-garde, grungy hipster-like in some ways. And this added to the sense of freedom and openness of the event.
The exhibition was essentially similar in nature to the Naples one. It varied in that I did a short performance poetry piece as well as screened my animation film 'Aasae'.

While I hung out the last few days at Berlin, I got rather deeply involved with an underground poetry-on-the-streets project. The ideas is simple: each participating poet has a signature colour (mine is a shocking pink of course - and being the first woman poet on board I actually got rights to this colour). The poet/org prints her work on sheets of her signature paper and posts it up on the streets. So off I went and did exactly that! I must say that it is really quite a trip to have your work out there and being read - kinda like a blog. Its pretty heartning to see people stop, read, smile and pass on by.

Overall its been a fantastic time here. I wandered around a lot and the berlin wall was everything that I thought it might be...more so for its sense of recent history and a community art-work nature. I leave for Paris tomorrow - and Im going to take it easy there most likely - no work, just gwak at the city and its people.

great going girl. so cool to see you going around the city posting your poems. like nirali said, i'm really glad that you were able to show your sketches and give them the due respect they deserve!! i feel now that you've put out your thoughts and drawings, its time to see the next phase - the paintings! hows that going? i cant wait to see more stuff.
relax in paris, get inspired, and get ready to create!

Exactly!! This is super... Maybe now with your experiences and feedback you can create a new genre of painting with poetry...
Wonder what inspiration you will draw from relaxing in Paris.... he he... Wonderful it will be!
