There is something to be said about buildings and of ruins. With Jaaga, the high-energy, fast-paced, ever-transient nature of this space and its people is something that has psychosised me over the last 15 months of its existance. It's a strong creative surge that once begun, sweeps and carries me away in its current. I am but a twig in its ebb and flow, caught happily - a willing hostage, to its will and whim.
Next week I will be headed over to Hampi. The last time I went (about two weeks ago), I realised that there is a sense of serinity that can only be felt in the heavy, solid, rock-faces of these monumental structures. The sheer timelessness of such buildings...in stark contrast to Jaaga's urban pace.
I will be there on work for this collaboration that I am doing with Jaaga and Microsoft Research. Its a project called Digital Heritage and with this version we look at trying to capture digitally the experience that the Virupaksha Temple provides.
Am curious to see if my two days of rest there over the weekend before I jump headlong into work will tickle my creative juices to understand better how to draw out the connection between Jaaga and me, in a way that is more intelligible to you both. It would be interetsting to see how best to presnt this at the 3For show. Calling Jaaga an artproject is what I have always done, perhaps the question I need to answer here is what makes me term this as my art work.

hey how was your trip??
The trip was great. I got a day or two in to relax and then swung right into work. It was all crazy and vibrant and beautiful. We should all go there together. Something about that place is very magical - like a timewarp, you step right into the 15th century.
